A desrt buildings are procedurally placed opportunities for supplies, parts, food, weapons, fuel, or vehicles according to current community documentation. They can also hold or attract zombies. Exact structure names, rarity percentages, item counts, layouts, and special spawns remain update-sensitive, so identify the stop by what you can see and search for the current need.
Currently documented structure groups
Small roadside stops
Examples reported: bus stops, shacks, huts, billboards and containers.
Use: quick exterior or one-room checks.
Risk: low search time does not guarantee useful loot.
Homes and cabins
Examples reported: starter-like houses, cabins, stone or concrete homes.
Use: room-by-room food, tool or part searches.
Risk: basements, attics, and dark interiors can hide exits or threats.
Fuel or industrial stops
Examples reported: gas station and radio-station-like structures.
Use: search when fuel, containers, parts, or large items are the target.
Risk: community special-loot claims require live confirmation.
Large complexes
Examples reported: school, prison, mansion and apartment-like sites.
Use: high search potential for prepared crews.
Risk: long search, multiple entrances, visibility and cargo decisions.
Read the approach before parking
Slow down early enough to inspect terrain, structure size, entrances, visible zombies, and a turn-around area. Do not park directly against the doorway. Face the vehicle toward the clearest departure route and keep enough space to steer around an obstacle.
Look at the building from two sides if fuel and safety allow. An exterior item, side entrance, basement opening, roof object, or hidden vehicle can change the search plan without requiring a deep interior route.
Choose a search objective
Name one primary need: fuel, food, power, a compatible wheel, a tool, light, or a weapon. A large building can tempt the crew to collect everything, but the vehicle still has limited safe cargo and remains the return point.
When the primary item is found, decide whether another search layer is worth the risk. Do not continue automatically. Current hunger, visibility, vehicle condition, zombies, and return reserve should make the decision.
Search in layers
Begin with the exterior and obvious accessible room. Move to side rooms, storage areas, upper or lower floors, and roofs only when the exit remains clear. Community tips specifically suggest checking exterior and elevated spaces, while also noting dark interiors and hidden areas.
Move useful finds to a collection point near the chosen exit. Keep unknown liquids separate and do not drag a heavy engine through a route that must remain open. Load after the search, not item by item during pressure.
Handle zombies and narrow interiors
Keep the vehicle outside the fight area and avoid combat beside fuel or loose parts. Enter with enough space to retreat and do not let a doorway become blocked by cargo. A weapon should create access to the exit, not encourage a complete clear for uncertain rewards.
In multiplayer, keep a lookout or driver aware of the vehicle. Searchers should report rooms cleared and the location of heavy finds. If the retreat call is made, leave the optional item.
Evaluate loot without guarantees
Community pages publish detailed rarity and item-count tables, but those values are not reproduced because their current-version accuracy has not been confirmed. Use a building’s visible size and search cost to plan time, not to promise a reward.
A small stop can be valuable when it contains the exact identified resource. A huge complex can be a poor choice when the car is failing or the crew lacks light. Compare value to the current run rather than the reputation of the building name.
Leave the stop cleanly
Load mobility and survival items first. Secure heavy parts low, keep containers labeled, and preserve access to the driver and engine. Walk around the car after loading and make a short movement check before accelerating away.
Record the building silhouette, arrival direction, exit direction, useful finds, date, and whether the structure appeared in another server. This creates a reliable session route without claiming a fixed world location.
Frequently asked questions
Which building has the best loot?
No current universal answer is used here. Larger community-named structures may offer more search space, but exact pools and counts need live confirmation.
Do gas stations guarantee fuel?
Do not depend on a guarantee. Search them when fuel is the priority, but keep enough reserve to leave if the result is poor.
Can buildings spawn anywhere?
The official world is procedural, and community pages report unusual placements. Exact placement rules need current cross-server testing.
